Quote: "I don't know how long it would have taken me to leave if not well..." "I hadn't rescued you."

Trivia: Javier Bódalo did all his stunts. As a result of that, he went several times to the hospital. Production had a one week break, so he could recuperate.

Overview: This movie is absolutely disgusting! One of the most repulsive movies I have seen in a long while. That being said, I loved it. I will probably never watch it again (definitely never watch it while eating dinner again) but I really enjoyed it and thought it was a really well made horror film. The movie is actually funny in an extremely dark way. Filmed entirely inside an apartment, the movie gives the viewer a claustrophobic sense while the myriad bodily fluids that the poor protagonist is covered with is revolting. However there is something about Javier Bodalo's performance that makes the film rather funny. We really feel for the dumb kid. As the movie unfolds, I was left wondering how far are they going to take this? The answer: They took it to the absolute limit. Funny, disgusting, and wonderful.

Synopsis: Nico is a nerdy twenty something who is desperate to lose his virginity. At a club he meets Medea, an older but beautiful woman who invites him back to her apartment. While there, Nico learns that the woman is into occult magic and to his dismay, she passes out in the midst of a sexual act. Later, Medea's boyfriend arrives at the door threatening to kill whoever is inside the apartment, trapping Nico. During the next sixty minutes, Nico is doused in nearly every fluid imaginable (period blood, semen, etc). When the boyfriend finally enters the house it is revealed that the plan was to have sex with a virgin as part of an occult ritual. The boyfriend backs down and instead Medea rapes Nico. And then he becomes pregnant. And then he gives birth through his butt. And then there is a demon baby trying to kill everyone.

The Good: Sometimes when we watch movies we want to be shocked. This movie does that job in spades. Very early in the film the movie takes a dramatic turn towards the weird and never lets up. The bizarre finally culminates in an excruciating to watch scene where our narrative gives birth to a demon through his butt hole (it looks as painful as one would imagine). The filmmakers are experts at ratcheting up intensity, forcing the viewer to question how far they'll go. Also, both Javier Bodalo and Miriam Martin (who play Nico and Medea) do an excellent job. Their performances draw in the viewer and put us in the apartment with them, a very disgusting but intriguing experience indeed. The special effects are practical and successfully executed. Oddly enough, the movie is also really funny! I don't know if it was Bodalo's performance (the poor bastard is just so sad and innocent that we cannot help but feeling for him) or the ridiculousness of the story (a man get impregnated and literally poops out a baby?!) but I couldn't help myself from laughing between the moments of disgust. Plus, if you're looking for gore, this movie has a ton of it without any actual deaths.

The Bad: This movie is not for the easily queasy. Semen filled condoms, a shower of period blood, and a male anal birthing are as disgusting as they sound. Much of the negative reviews of the film focus on the film's extremism. They are not wrong either. The narrative really does rely on shock value. Also, many people will not get the film's humor both because it gets lost in the vileness of the movie and because it can only be funny to those with a very dark sense of humor. Not a film for everyone, but I loved it!

Gore: 5/5

Nudity: 1/5
